General Purpose

Plan, organize and control the manufacturing processes, the technical resources and the human resources so that goods are produced safely, cost-effectively and on-time and that they meet the required quality standards.

 1. Plan and organize production schedules

  • Plan, draw up, implement and control the production schedule according to the customer orders and forecast
  • Plan and maximize manufacturing processes, equipment use and maintenance and manpower to fulfill the production schedule and ensure customer orders are completed on time and to budget and that quality standards and targets are met 
  • Monitor the production processes, the OEE, the human resources and review and adjust schedules on time as needed
  • Expected results: accurate and reliable production plan, adherence to the production schedule, no back-orders

2. Lead operational excellence and continuous improvement activities

  • - Manage human and material resources to meet production targets 
  • - Master and improve all manufacturing processes: ensure they run reliably and efficiently 
  • - Develop Lean Manufacturing in place and implement new LM tools 
  • - Develop Continuous Improvement in place and implement new CI tools 
  • - Monitor and optimize productivity and scrap rates 
  • - Ensure changes are appropriately implemented and controlled 
  • - Oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of production equipment and utilities to ensure smooth work operations 
  • - Liaise and coordinate with Maintenance to ensure efficient and on-time preventive maintenance of all the equipments, utilities and premises

3. Ensure health and safety and quality compliance for all production activities and operations 

  • Ensure health and safety and quality regulations and procedures are followed at all times
  • Ensure quality standards (local regulations, GMP, HACCP/FSMA) are followed and met at all times
  • Investigation of any deviations and complaints related to production 
  • Put in place effective CAPA to prevent repeated issues 
  • Ensure that any breaches in H&S and GMP/HACCP are managed in accordance with company procedures
  • Work out and implement standard operating procedures, working instructions and other quality documents for production operations 
  • Ensure data integrity of all the production activities and operations according to the Good Documentation Practices and the ALCOA+ principles 

 4. Set and control the budgets 

  • - Assess and determine project and resource requirements 
  • - Estimate costs and prepare budgets 
  • - Monitor and control the budgets 
  • - Suggest capital investment to improve manufacturing activities and operations in term of safety, efficiency and compliance 
  • - Liaise with Accounting and Cost Control to ensure appropriate and on time cash flow/cash out

5. Team management and development 

  • Propose, plan and organize relevant training sessions for the production staff (on-the-job and off-the-job)
  • Conduct on-the job training (on procedures, working instructions…) 
  • Set production individual or collective objectives (KPI/IPP) and implement action plans for achieving set targets
  • Monitor and review the performance of staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement
  • Guide and coach the team to ensure efficient collaboration, communication and coordination between relevant factory departments

6. Manufacturing reports

  • Set, monitor and control the key production metrics 
  • Oversee and control health and safety and quality key metrics
  • Prepare and analyze periodic production reports and update them to upper management


Educational level or equivalent experience: Pharmacist, Master or Engineer in pharmaceutical or Food Science & Technology or equivalent qualifications

Total number of years' experience required to fulfil the role: 15 years

  • In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical and food technologies and processes. Extrusion knowledge is a plus
  • In-depth knowledge/understanding of the quality standards (GMP, HACCP/FSMA) and health and safety regulations
  • In-depth knowledge in team management (performance and development)
  • Knowledge in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts
  • Knowledge in budget and cost control
  • Project management skills
  • Proficient in numerical and computer skills (GSuite, MS Offices) and in English (written, speaking and understanding)
